MP Marc Lies, in charge of housing policy for the CSV, stressed that the ‘Pact 2.0' only creates “additional hurdles in the creation of affordable housing” for municipalities. For this reason, the CSV’s demands include a simplification of the procedures related to integrating plots of land into the development plan, as well as a reform of the Environmental Protection Law.
The opposition party also demands an increased cooperation with private investors, arguing that public developers are unable to cope with the demand. The party’s new co-president Elisabeth Margue added that the CSV particularly wants to reduce the financial burden on first-time buyers. To this end, the CSV demands both an increase of the tax credit or the housing VAT, and of rent subsidies.
