At a press conference on Wednesday, Minister of Health Paulette Lenert said stricter measures were not yet required. However, she appealed to the public to restrict their social contacts and continue with a collective effort to stop the virus from spreading.
Health experts predicted that the situation would take a turn for the worse in the autumn and winter months. Lenert encouraged people with symptoms to get a test. Currently, test results aim to be completed within 24 hours, while the healthcare sector may see even faster tests in the near future to help reduce pressure on laboratories.
Plans are in motion for an additional drive-in testing station for people with a prescription, although the exact location is yet to be confirmed.
