With an average net income of €4,973 per month, Luxembourg residents are generally well off, but significant differences remain noticeable between households.

While Luxembourg is known for its high standard of living, not all residents benefit equally from the country’s economic prosperity.

The Luxembourg Chamber of Employees (CSL) has published its latest "Social Panorama" study, which offers new insights into household incomes across the Grand Duchy.

Drawing on figures from Eurostat, the CSL found that the average net income for Luxembourg residents in 2025 stood at €59,681 per year, or €4,973 per month.

These figures offer a useful benchmark, but they do not tell the whole story about the country’s income distribution.

A closer look at the data shows that the median net income, the level at which half the population earns more and half earns less, is noticeably lower, namely €50,046 per year, or €4,170 per month.

However, for the purposes of comparison, the CSL focused its analysis on the average income figure.

Who earns what?

Despite the country’s high average income, substantial disparities exist between different types of households. Households without children enjoy a particularly comfortable situation, averaging €5,497 per month.

Older households, defined as those with at least one member aged 65 or over, fare even better, with an average income of €6,051 per month. Couples with one child also exceed the national average, bringing in €5,418 per month.

At the other end of the spectrum, single adults without children receive an average of €4,869 per month, while households with children, especially larger families, fall further behind.

Households with children to support average €4,526 per month, and those with three or more dependent children see this figure drop to €3,745.

The group facing the greatest financial challenges is single parents, whose average monthly net income stands at €3,257, according to the CSL.
