Packs of 20 cigarettes and 50g packets of tobacco will increase by 20 cents, in accordance with the new law.

In future, all cigarette packets are to have neutral branding, without images or logos.

On Friday, ministers also agreed on Luxembourg’s participation in the investigation of the International Court of Justice against war crimes in Ukraine.

The government council also green-lit the growth and stability plan, which is to be discussed in the Chamber of Deputies next week.

In addition, the government has decided to classify 14 regions as protection zones via a Grand Ducal regulation. These will include the Haff Réimech nature reserve, the Syre, Alzette, and Black Ernz valleys, and the Pällembierg nature reserve in Machtum.
