Unemployment benefitsChanges to ADEM benefit claims as online applications launch

RTL Infos
Since 1 January 2026, claims for full unemployment benefits must now be submitted exclusively online.

According to the National Employment Agency (ADEM), the process has been simplified: job seekers must first register with ADEM. Based on the information provided during registration, the agency automatically determines whether the person is eligible for benefits.

If they are, the job seeker receives a letter inviting them to submit their application via their private space on MyGuichet.lu. Secure authentication is required via a LuxTrust product, the Luxembourg electronic identity card (eID), or an eIDAS certificate from another EU member state.

ADEM describes it as an accessible and intuitive process

Applications can be completed using a smartphone, computer, or laptop. Information boxes guide users through the form, and required documents can be downloaded with just a few clicks. The number of supporting documents has also been reduced to simplify the process.

According to ADEM, the new system means less paperwork and more time saved, as applications for full unemployment benefits must now always be made online.

Additionally, ADEM offers assistance to people who need help completing their online application and for those without the necessary authentication or equipment, they can always reach the ADEM contact centre at 247-88888, which offers tailored solutions.
