Parliament shuffleChamber of Deputies: who's in, who's out?

RTL Today
The recent election in Luxembourg has led to a significant reshuffling in the Chamber of Deputies, with numerous incumbents losing their seats and new faces from various parties making their entrance.

Although there is still a lot of shuffling going on in terms of coalition talks, Sunday’s election has shown who people directly elected to the new Chamber of Deputies.

Ousted from parliament have been the Democratic Party’s Minister Marc Hansen, as well as Ministers Claude Turmes and Henri Kox from The Greens. Minister Yuriko Backes from the DP and Minister Joëlle Welfring from the Greens ran for a first time this year and were directly elected.

Seven politicians from the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP) did not receive enough votes to guarantee them a spot in the new Chamber: Yves Cruchten, Simone Asselborn-Bintz, Dan Kersch, Lydia Mutsch, Cécile Hemmen, Carlo Weber, and Tess Burton. Newly and directly elected for the LSAP were Liz Braz and Claire Delcourt.

New faces on the DP bench will be Dr Gérard Schockmel and Luc Emering. The democrats who no longer have a guaranteed seat are Guy Arendt, Claude Lamberty, Frank Colabianchi, Pim Knaff, and Gilles Baum.

No fewer than nine Greens politicians have to vacate their seats in the Chamber: Djuna Bernard, François Benoit, Jesse Thill, Josée Lorsché, Semiray Ahmedova, Charel Margue, Marc Hansen, Stéphanie Empain, and Chantal Gary. Meris Sehovic was meanwhile elected to the Chamber for a first time.

New on board for the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV) are Christoph Hansen and Charel Weiler. Ousted from their seats have been Jean-Paul Schaaf and Laurent Mosar.

The Left’s Myriam Cecchetti also lost her seat in the Chamber.

The Alternative Democratic Reform Party (ADR) has two new faces in parliament: Lexi Schoos and Tom Weidig.

And finally, Ben Polidori from the Pirate Party has been elected for a first time.
