On Thursday evening, the Accounts Committee of the Chamber of Deputies released its report on the costs of Parliament for 2023.
The total expenditure amounted to €58.9 million.
The report highlighted three major areas of spending:
Parliamentary groups and political factions, the latter referring to the smallest parties represented in the Chamber, received approximately €6 million.
In addition to these main expenses, smaller costs such as travel expenses, the publication of parliamentary minutes, and reimbursement for election campaign expenses totalled €1.7 million.
This financial report is yet to be validated by the Chamber of Deputies with MP Tom Weidig of the Alternative Democratic Reform Party (ADR) serving as the rapporteur.
