The Emergency Medical Service (Samu) is deployed in medical emergencies or life-threatening situations. For this reason, the vehicles are equipped with medical equipment that can be used in almost any medical emergency.
So far, there are five of these vehicles in Luxembourg. Now the CGDIS (Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps) will receive a new generation of ambulance vehicles. CGDIS spokesman Cédric Gantzer told RTL that these will be presented next month. No further details were revealed, such as how many new vehicles will be added to the fleet.
The cars are currently undergoing the registration process and, judging by their appearance, will be more spacious than the older models.
Last year, the SAMU service was deployed around 10,000 times.
