Potential closuresCafé and restaurant owners express concerns

Do Luxembourg's cafés and restaurants have to shut, as has been the case in France and Belgium?

Café and restaurant owners have expressed their concerns over the economic impact of the coronavirus. Establishments in neighbouring countries have been forced to close as a result of the pandemic.

The Minister for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Lex Delles, said there was no reason to panic. He said he understood their concerns, but at this moment in time, the criteria for such closures had not been fulfilled.

For now, Luxembourg City mayor Lydie Polfer has banned all-night events and restricted opening hours for bars and clubs to 1am. Venues are also not allowed to host more than 100 people in a room at any given time.
