PoliceBurglars arrested in Merl and Strassen

A number of break-ins were reported in Merl, Strassen, Steinfort and Bettembourg.

Overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, police were alerted to an attempted burglary in Merl. The suspect was quickly located and arrested by order of the public prosecutor, and was brought before a judge on Thursday.

At around lunchtime on Wednesday, two burglars broke a window to gain entry to a property on Rue du Bois, Strassen, but were caught in the act by the resident. Both men fled the scene. Police launched a search and came across two men concealing their faces in Cents. The two attempted to run away, but were quickly caught by officers who confirmed they were the perpetrators from the Strassen incident. Both were arrested by order of the public prosecutor.

Another burglary took place on Rue de Hagen in Steinfort at around 6.45pm on Wednesday. Intruders searched a number of rooms, taking valuable items. A forensics team attended the property, while investigations are still ongoing.

Similar scenes took place in Bettembourg after an intruder gained entry through a window at the back of a property on Rue Sigefroi.
