The lorry was said to be blocking the road around the Däichwisen roundabout, causing tailbacks as far as the B7 and A7.
Motorists were advised to take the Colmar-Berg/ Roost exit from the A7 instead.
In addition, three cars were involved in a collision on the B7 heading north, between Colmar-Berg and Schieren, causing additional traffic jams on the A7 motorway.
