Chosen from over 35 applicants, the group spent the day learning about diplomacy, women’s leadership, and the global challenges shaping today’s world. The programme aimed to inspire and empower the next generation of women in international relations.
The day started with a crisis simulation at the British Embassy, led by Ambassador Fleur Thomas. The participants stepped into real-world diplomatic challenges, working together to solve problems and develop their media and communication skills.
After a working lunch at the Ambassador’s Residence, the group spoke with female diplomats from the UK, Canada, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Poland, and the Netherlands. The conversation focused on women in diplomacy, gender equality in peace and security, and how to break into international careers.
They also visited RTL studios for a session with journalists on how the media plays a role in diplomacy, followed by a trip to the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. There, they met Luxembourg’s Ambassador-at-large for human rights, Anne Goedert, and learned about the country’s foreign policy.
The day wrapped up with a reception at the Embassy of Canada, where the participants had a chance to meet members of Luxembourg’s diplomatic community and gain more insight into the world of diplomacy.
