The situation was difficult to assess for the officers that arrived at the scene, as a large group was involved in fights. Furthermore, witnesses at the park reported thefts and other acts of violence.
In light of coronavirus restrictions, the police dispersed the crowd as quickly as possible. They received back-up from officers from the south and east of Luxembourg, with 70 police officers there in total. They later searched the park to ensure it was empty.
A police helicopter hovered above the park to monitor the situation.
In the end, one person was arrested for theft. Authorities further communicated that nobody was seriously injured.
