Beckerich has run its own remote heating network since 2005, producing heat in a central location and distributing it to residences through the water circuits. A farmer cooperative helps to distribute energy through a bio-gas plant, and the communal wood-chipping plant is run using homegrown wood from the region.

Any biomass produced in the region is used locally for energy purposes where possible, saving the municipality around 1.2 million litres of fuel every year.

Photovoltaics has also expanded significantly in recent years. Mayor Thierry Lagoda said there was more potential for development here, with wind energy also playing a crucial role.

Another pillar of the municipal council's climate targets is housing construction. New houses should be developed in such a way that they can use energy in a sustainable manner, using it efficiently and producing the energy required for the region.
