Bladed weaponsAre you allowed to carry a knife in Luxembourg?

RTL Today
While shops in neighboring countries like France still sell offensive weapons like knuckledusters and balisongs to anyone over the age of 18, Luxembourg has stricter laws.

Even though you may carry a traditional pocket knife (think Swiss Army knife), several other types of knives are illegal in the Grand Duchy.

Under Luxembourg law, carrying the following can land you a hefty fine and/or even a prison sentence:

  • flick knives, folding knives (such as the Balisongs and "butterfly" knives") and all knives with a blade that is longer than 9cm (7cm in some cases). Lock knifes in particular may get you into trouble.
  • double-edged knives
  • daggers
  • bayonets
  • swords and sabers
  • throwing knives and ninja stars

On a side note, pepper spray and batons are also prohibited in Luxembourg.
