In the run-up to this year’s local and legislative elections, the Luxembourg Federation for the Protection of Monuments (LDF) has compiled a list of demands and calls on the country’s political parties to take a stand on a number of concrete issues. The Federation plans to publish the parties’ answers.
The LDF demands that the criteria for monument protection be clarified and that more efforts be made to protect Luxembourg’s village and cityscapes. The Federation also thinks that more should be done to encourage municipalities to protect more buildings in their General Development Plan (PAG).
This is in the spirit of cultural heritage, community well-being, and environmental protection, the Federation argues. The LDF would also not be opposed to a moratorium on demolition, as has been called for in a number of recent petitions.
