The main suspect in the case was the ex-boyfriend of the victim. Earlier this year, the trial against him ended with a life-sentence for the defendant. A Luxembourg City court found him guilty of having murdered his ex-girlfriend and mother of his child, before transporting her body across the French border to burn the remains.
To this day, the defendant insists on his innocence. The appeal case of the sentence is scheduled to begin in the afternoon today.
