Anthogyr, part of the Straumann Group, is shutting down its Mersch production site for “strategic reasons,” with operations being merged with the Menaro site in Spain. Production at the Luxembourg facility will cease permanently in mid-July.
Out of the 39 employees at the Mersch site, 29 will be laid off. The LCGB has criticised the decision as “radical and unilateral,” arguing that it does not align with the “Luxembourg model of social dialogue.” According to the trade union, there is “no financial reason” for the restructuring, which is described as a “purely strategic choice to increase the group’s growth.”
