According to Isabelle Schlesser, Director of ADEM, “When ADEM lacks strong relationships with Luxembourg’s companies, it becomes harder for unemployed individuals to find work.” To address this, ADEM has extended its partnership with UEL for nearly four more years, paving the way for registered jobseekers to re-enter the workforce more effectively.
This renewed collaboration takes a slightly different approach by concentrating on the largest recruiters in the Grand Duchy. Schlesser elaborated, “We’re targeting recruiters who frequently need to hire. Our goal is to ensure that these new hires include people registered with ADEM. This is crucial to reducing unemployment, which currently stands at 5.8%. Strengthening our efforts with this focused strategy is key to achieving this goal. While our renewed contract covers multiple aspects, this targeted focus is one of the most significant additions.”
Schlesser also mentioned that companies collaborating with ADEM receive the “Partner for Employment” label, which comes with an agreement to automatically declare all open positions and prioritise hiring registered unemployed individuals. The percentage of hires from ADEM referrals will be adjusted based on each company’s needs.
The collaboration between ADEM and UEL began nine years ago, introducing initiatives like Job Days, online platforms, and other efforts to better align supply and demand of the job market.
