An accident on the A1 near the Howald tunnel caused major traffic congestion around Luxembourg City on Monday morning, with kilometres of queues affecting several motorways.
On the left, the A3 is at a standstill around the Gasperich interchange. On the right, the slip road onto the A1 has come to a halt just before the Howald tunnel.

The week got off to a bad start for motorists: An accident occurred just after the Howald tunnel on the A1, direction Germany, on Monday morning. Reported shortly before 7am by the Traffic Monitoring Centre (CITA), the accident led to the closure of the left lane.

Though it reopened shortly after 7.30am, kilometres of traffic jams were reported at the Gasperich interchange and as far as the A6. The A3 was also heavily congested, with vehicles stuck in the right lane trying to merge onto the A1 towards Kirchberg and the airport.
