The A7 was temporarily closed heading north after reports emerged of smoke emitting from the broken-down vehicle in the tunnel. The Grouft tunnel was promptly closed as far as Waldhof.
Fire fighters attended the site to rectify the incident, with plans to reopen one lane to traffic as early as possible.
