To mark Orange Week, multiple Luxembourg municipalities are hosting free screenings of the award-winning film "Breathing Underwater" to foster public dialogue and awareness about domestic violence.

The initiative, organised in collaboration with the Ministry for Gender Equality and Diversity, will see free screenings hosted by the municipalities of Strassen, Hesperange, Leudelange, Sanem, Roeser, Mamer, and Bertrange over the coming weeks. The film, directed by Éric Lamhène, recently won best film at the Luxembourg Film Awards.

The events will feature discussions with speakers connected to the project, including director Éric Lamhène and actress Esperanza Martin González-Quevedo. The actress, who plays a character named Esperanza, is herself a survivor of domestic violence. They will be joined by managers from active support centres and a representative from the "La Voix des Survivants et Survivantes" association.

The film will be shown at 7pm on the following dates and locations:

  • 26 November: Centre Barblé, Strassen
