The Grand-Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) were called out to tackle five fires on Saturday evening and rescue three road accident victims.

At around 7.10pm on Saturday evening, a collision between two cars occurred on the Berchem motorway service area in the direction of Croix de Gasperich. The accident left two people injured, who were evacuated by Bettembourg's emergency services. Firefighters from the Bettembourg and Roeser fire stations were called to the scene.

At around 2.30am on Sunday morning, the Luxembourg emergency medical services, as well as the Luxembourg City ambulance service and the Hesperange emergency response centre were dispatched to the CR157 due to a car having reportedly crashed into an obstacle, according to the CGDIS. The accident occurred between Roeser and Alzingen and left one person injured. The victim was taken to the emergency room. No further details have been released.

Alongside these road interventions, CGDIS firefighters brought a total of five fires under control on Saturday evening across the country with no injuries reported.

In Manternach, a chimney fire broke out at 5pm. In Wiltz a sofa caught fire a few minutes later, and in Dudelange on Rue Grand-Duc Adolphe, a garden shed caught fire at the same time.

Between 7.30pm and 8.30pm, the fire brigade was called out to contain smoke in a laundry room in Cloche d'Or on Rue Guillaume Kroll. Then, firefighters were dispatched to extinguish a rubbish bin fire in Mondercange on Rue de Reckange.
