A spate of break-ins and attempted burglaries targeted multiple towns from Friday evening to Saturday morning, with police also reporting two serious drink-driving incidents overnight.

Police reported a series of break-ins and attempted burglaries across multiple communes between Friday evening and Saturday morning.

Successful break-ins occurred in Belair, Bivels, Nacher, Grevenmacher, and Mamer, with valuables reported stolen in each case.

Separate attempted break-ins were recorded in the Bonnevoie neighbourhood of Luxembourg City, as well as in Dudelange, Fentange, and Leudelange. In these instances, the suspects fled the scene after being spotted by residents.

Forensic police attended all locations and have launched investigations into the incidents.

Drink-driving incidents

Two separate drink-driving incidents were also reported in the early hours of Saturday morning.

At around 4am in Luxembourg City, police stopped a motorist who had driven through a red light. The driver subsequently tested positive on a breathalyser test, resulting in a temporary driving ban.

Later, at approximately 5.30am in Bertrange, a driver was observed circling a roundabout multiple times. Upon noticing a police patrol, the motorist mounted a pavement before continuing to drive. The individual was stopped, and a distinct smell of alcohol led to a breathalyser test, which also returned a positive result. A document check further revealed the driver did not possess a valid licence. The motorist was subsequently fined for both drink-driving and driving without a valid licence.
