The Winterlights festival will illuminate the capital from this Friday until 4 January and this year 1.3 million lights will brighten up Luxembourg City.
The festival will feature a wide array of Christmas markets and attractions spread across the city centre. The four main markets will be located at Place d'Armes, near the Gëlle Fra monument, at Kinnekswiss, and at Place de Paris. Detailed opening hours for all markets are available on the Luxembourg City website.
Family-friendly activities are a central part of the programme. The 'Winterkids' market at Place Guillaume II is tailored for children, and its 'Winterkids Village' will open daily during the school holidays starting on 20 December, offering various workshops and activities for families.
A new addition this year is the 'Winter Forest' in Bambësch. Organised by the Creative Learning Centre (CAPEL), it will host workshops for children aged 3 to 12 from 4-14 December.
For circus enthusiasts, the 'International Circus Festival' is scheduled for 29 and 30 November at Glacis, followed by the 'Luxembourg Advent Circus' on 4 and 5 December at the same location.
The festive traditions continue with the arrival of Saint Nicholas, who will tour the city on 30 November.
