A viral tree-planting challenge in Luxembourg has received a royal seal of approval, with Grand Duke Guillaume becoming the latest participant in the #BamChallenge.
A new campaign encouraging tree planting is gaining momentum across Luxembourg. Known as the #BamChallenge, it involves participants being nominated to plant a tree and then, in turn, selecting three others to do the same.
The challenge has been circulating on social media for over a month. While it was initially popular among youth clubs and Scout groups, it has since been embraced by a wider audience, including schools, businesses, and local councils.
According to the rules of the challenge, a nominated individual or group has 72 hours to plant a tree, record a video of the act, and nominate three new candidates.
The initiative recently received a significant endorsement. The Luxembourg Guides and Scouts – in addition to the National Federation of Luxembourgish Scouts (FNEL) and Minister of Education Claude Meisch – nominated a very special participant: the Chief Scout himself, Grand Duke Guillaume.
The Grand Duke accepted the challenge without hesitation, praising the "collective effort" to make the world "greener, more sustainable, and more unified." As part of his own nominations, he selected his father, Grand Duke Henri. As a result, there are now two newly planted trees at Fischbach Castle.
