The police have been kept busy in the last few days with multiple burglaries, thefts, a particulary violent criminal, and car break-ins.

On Saturday afternoon, two handbags and their contents were stolen in Luxembourg City, and later that night, a backpack was taken from a café terrace.

On Saturday evening, a suspect broke into a car parked in an underground garage by smashing a window. The thief fled the scene when the vehicle’s owner appeared. Earlier that morning, two additional car break-ins were reported, one in Bofferdange and another in Luxembourg City.

The police also received several reports of burglaries in Dippach and Beggen. Investigations for both cases are ongoing.

In a separate incident on Saturday evening, a person reported that their phone had been stolen in Pétange.

As part of the investigation, officers encountered a suspect. When asked to empty his pockets during a routine check, the man refused to cooperate and resisted the officers’ instructions. He was eventually searched, and the stolen phone was found in his possession.

When police attempted to escort the suspect to the station for further proceedings, he physically attacked them. The man continued resisting and behaving aggressively towards police officers during the transfer.

On the orders of the public prosecutor’s office, the man was detained and a report for theft and resisting arrest was filed.
