A new centralised digital platform has been launched to offer training courses for those interested in becoming tour guides in the Grand Duchy, Tourism Minister Lex Delles shared on Friday.
The training course which is in part digital, offers all the foundations to put people well on their way to becoming a seasoned tour guide in Luxembourg. According to Minister Delles:
"We have set up a centralised digital training platform called the Tourism Academy, an academy we established to offer training to tour guides. And in the future, we are also looking to offer other types of training on the platform on top of the tour guide training."
The course will provide future tour guides with all that they need to know, offering knowledge on Luxembourg's geography, geology, history, culture and economy. However, to complete the course successfully, merely learning everything by heart won't be enough.
The Minister explains: "That’s why the course is interactive. It’s not just a matter of reading through and saying, 'yes, I’ve read it'. No, it’s interactive with pictures, photos, maps, videos, and quizzes, in order to meet the modern standards of today’s training. There are also documents that can be downloaded for anyone who wants to delve deeper into the subject, so that all the material is readily available."
The training course will take 25 hours to complete and is available in French, English, German and Luxembourgish. In fact, Luxembourgish as a language plays an important role throughout the training course.
The course is available online through the 'House of Training' platform at a cost of €150.
