Luxembourg police dealt with a series of public order offences between Monday afternoon and early Tuesday morning, from a violent dispute in Echternach to multiple instances of impaired driving.
From a provoked bar fight to drivers under the influence, Luxembourg police reported multiple incidents leading to arrests and fines.
On Monday evening, Luxembourg police were called to a bar on Rue de la Gare in Echternach following reports of a brawl.
Upon arrival, officers found that the dispute had initially calmed. However, the situation escalated quickly after the involved individuals noticed the police. One person became particularly uncooperative and repeatedly insulted the officers.
Due to their evident state of inebriation, which posed a danger to both themselves and others, the individual was taken into custody. After a medical check-up, they were held overnight and issued with a fine.
Separate incidents involving alcohol and drugs
In an unrelated incident on Monday afternoon, police in Ettelbruck ordered a driver to move a vehicle that was blocking multiple spaces in a car park next to the railway station. Officers on the scene suspected the driver was under the influence of drugs. A subsequent drug test confirmed their suspicions, resulting in a fine for the motorist.
Elsewhere, in Luxembourg City on Monday night, police checked a vehicle found stationary at the intersection of Rue de Commerce and Rue de Reims. The driver was found to be intoxicated and was issued with a temporary driving ban.
Arrest warrant executed
In a final incident, a police patrol in Luxembourg City's Gare neighbourhood located a person subject to an outstanding arrest warrant shortly before 5am on Tuesday. The individual was admitted to Sanem penitentiary following a medical check-up.
