On Thursday, police received reports that a number of cars had been broken into in Bettembourg and in the capital.

Thieves broke into a car parked on Rue de l'Indépendance in Bettembourg on Thursday afternoon, stealing a number of valuable items in the process.

In the capital's Gare district, offenders smashed a car window and stole a handbag from a vehicle on Rue du Fort Neipperg.

The Grand Ducal police launched investigations into both incidents. For advice on taking preventative action against theft, consult the police website.

Drink driving

Two cars were involved in an accident on Route de Luxembourg in Rodange on Thursday afternoon, with one of the motorists choosing to drive away from the scene instead of stopping. A local police patrol caught up with the driver shortly afterwards and found she was showing visible signs of intoxication. A subsequent breathalyser test returned positive results and officers confiscated the woman's licence.

Later on Thursday evening, a car was reported on the N2 in Hamm after it was observed driving dangerously and weaving across the road towards Findel. Police pulled the vehicle over and conducted a breathalyser test, which ended up being positive.
