According to new data published by the Ministry of Health this week, Covid-19 is circulating once again, although seasonal flu has not yet taken off in Luxembourg.
In the Ministry of Health's weekly review of respiratory infections, published on Thursday, data showed that cases of Covid-19 are on the rise in Luxembourg.
12% increase in coronavirus cases in a week
From 6–12 October 2025, the number of positive Covid cases rose from 261 to 293 cases, an increase of 12% compared to the previous week.
A graph published on Thursday by the Ministry of Health indicates that by the beginning of October 2025, the level of recorded cases corresponds to the peak of the same period last year.

In an interview with RTL this week, Dr. Jean-Claude Schmit, Director of Health, acknowledged that there was a relatively high number of Covid cases, but urged perspective: "It's a small wave, like the one last year. Nothing extraordinary."
The Ministry also reported that the viral concentration detected in wastewater has decreased.
The latest available sequencing data reveal that the XFG variant (49.2%) and its sub-variant XFG.3 (33.5%) were dominant in September.
Flu infections slightly increasing
Last week, the number of flu cases rose slightly, from 12 to 22 cases. Despite this increase, infections are at a very low level. All the test results showed these cases were influenza A.
RSV remains at a low level
The number of RSV cases, or respiratory syncytial virus, reported by laboratories has stabilised at 10 cases, unchanged from the previous week.
