Travel to Wiltz was severely disrupted for nearly two hours Saturday when a large tree, felled by bad weather, blocked the key route via Niederfeulen and Fuussekaul.
A fallen tree blocked the road between Niederfeulen and Fuussekaul on Saturday, leading to a nearly two-hour complete closure of the stretch.
The incident caused significant traffic disruptions, particularly for motorists travelling towards Wiltz via Ettelbruck, who were forced to seek alternate routes and factor in considerable delays.
The scene also required an emergency response. In addition to the local fire brigade, an ambulance was despatched after a car collided with the fallen tree shortly after 10am. According to the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS), no one was injured in that incident.
This was one of several weather-related accidents reported across the country. The CGDIS also responded to two other collisions, one on Place du Marché in Pétange and another between Olm and Kehlen, each resulting in one minor injury.
Further accidents causing material damage, but no injuries, were reported on the A1 between the Howald Tunnel and the Iergäertchen roundabout, and on the N14 between Schumannseck and Buderscheid.
