19 days from now, a rare event will occur in Luxembourg – the coronation of a new Grand Duke. On Monday, the Palace unveiled the list of expected attendees.
Preparations for the festivities surrounding Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume's coronation next month are well underway. The three-day event will kick off on Friday 3 October, with a series of ceremonies, a gala dinner, and a nationwide tour to follow over the weekend.
On Monday, the court released details of the coronation's guest list, which will see a number of foreign dignitaries travel to Luxembourg in order to participate. The list is as follows:
France
His Excellency Mr Emmanuel Macron, president of the French Republic, and Madame Brigitte Macron (for the gala dinner only).
Germany
His Excellency Mr Frank-Walter Steinmeier, president of the German federal republic, and Madame Elke Büdenbender (for the gala dinner only).
Belgium
Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, and Her Royal Highness Princess Élisabeth, heir apparent to the throne.
The Netherlands
Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima and Her Royal Highness Princess Catharina-Amalia, heir apparent to the throne.
European institutions
Her Excellency Madame Roberta Metsola, president of the European Parliament, and Mr Ukko Metsola.
