CFL confirms cancellations and Luxair urges passengers to allow extra time at the airport ahead of Wednesday's strike.
The Luxembourg National Railway Company (CFL) has announced that due to a strike in France on Wednesday, all train service between Longwy and Rodange will be cancelled.
In a statement released Tuesday, CFL explained that based on the latest information regarding the French strike, trains on the Luxembourg City to Longwy route – which travel via Bascharage-Sanem and Rodange – will be unable to operate on the French segment of the journey. Consequently, service between Rodange and Longwy in both directions will be suspended for the duration of Wednesday, 10 September. The Rodange station will serve as the terminal stop for this line.
According to current information, which CFL stressed is subject to change, the Luxembourg City to Thionville and Metz line is not expected to be affected. Both regular regional services and TGV high-speed trains on this route are anticipated to run as scheduled.
Separately, rail replacement buses will be operating between Luxembourg City's central station and Bettembourg in both directions. CFL clarified that this measure is unrelated to the French strike and is instead due to ongoing engineering works, which are planned to continue until Sunday.
Passengers planning to travel between France and Luxembourg in either direction on Wednesday are strongly advised to consult the CFL or TER Grand Est websites for the latest updates on potential delays and cancellations.
Flight routes also disrupted
Luxair has also warned passengers of expected "operational disruptions" on Wednesday due to a strike in France.
In a statement, the airline said all flights that must enter or cross French airspace are likely to be affected. The cause is a strike across the border, which will significantly impact French aviation infrastructure.
In anticipation of delays and potential schedule changes, Luxair is advising passengers to arrive at Findel Airport at least two hours before their scheduled departure time.
The airline also strongly recommends that travellers monitor their flight status throughout the day. This precaution is advised to avoid unnecessary travel to the airport in the event of a significant delay or cancellation.
