An individual was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon after resisting police officers and setting fire to public property in Pétange.

A container for cardboard was set on fire on Rue Pierre Gregoire late on Wednesday afternoon. Although the fire was quickly extinguished, there were clear signs of arson. An individual was identified and stopped by a police patrol in the area, but became aggressive when challenged. The public prosecutor's office ordered the man's arrest as a result.

He was brought before a judge on Thursday and, in addition to the arson charges, is likely to be fined for rebellion against police officers.
