According to data from Ministers Gloden and Backes, motorbike collisions injure an average of 180 people every year in Luxembourg.

Over the past 12 years, nearly 2,100 people have been injured in around 1,960 accidents involving motorcycles. In most cases, the rider or passenger sustained light or serious injuries  –  77 people lost their lives.

The annual average of those injured in motorcycle accidents each year is around 180. The toll was particularly high last year, with 183 accidents and 199 people injured.

Figures also suggest that police checks under the Safe on Two Wheels campaign are paying off: around 1,370 motorcyclists were fined for non-compliance or missing documents.

The data were provided by Ministers Backes and Gloden in response to a parliamentary question from Democratic Party (DP) MPs Graas and Bauler.
