A lane in each direction on the Moselle bridge connecting Luxembourg and Germany will be closed for structural inspections, with authorities warning of possible traffic delays.

According to Saarländischer Rundfunk, the Moselle bridge at Schengen will be partially closed from Monday onwards – for an indefinite period.

One lane heading towards Luxembourg and one towards Germany will be closed, potentially causing congestion on the cross-border route. Vehicles over 44 tonnes are entirely banned from using the bridge, while heavy transports up to 44 tonnes must maintain a minimum 50m distance in the inspection area.

Germany’s Autobahn GmbH – the federal agency responsible for motorway maintenance – reported that cracks have been discovered in several locations on the bridge. These findings require further inspection and are being coordinated with Luxembourg’s road authorities.

The bridge remains open for general traffic under the restrictions outlined above, but drivers are advised to plan for delays and follow all posted safety guidance during the inspection period.
