Luxembourg kicked off its National Day celebrations on Saturday evening with a spectacular light show at the Grand Ducal Palace, attended by the royal family, government officials, and large crowds of spectators.

The celebrations in Luxembourg City began in grand style with a dazzling sound and light show projected onto the facade of the Grand Ducal Palace. The spectacle featured images and impressions of Grand Duke Henri and the Grand Ducal family, highlighting memorable moments from the past 25 years.

Watching from the official tribune were members of the Grand Ducal family, led by Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa. They were joined by Prime Minister Luc Frieden, other members of the government, Luxembourg City Mayor Lydie Polfer, and various invited guests.

Over the coming days, thousands of people are expected to flock to the capital for the celebrations. Already on Saturday evening, under clear skies, large crowds gathered to witness the opening event. Spirits were high among both the Grand Ducal family and the spectators, marking a festive and joyful start to the programme.
