On the occasion of the Feast of the Ascension of Jesus Christ, many people traditionally embark on a pilgrimage to Wiltz to visit the statue of Our Lady of Fatima. Although the official holiday was not until Thursday, the first pilgrims began arriving as early as Wednesday afternoon. From that moment on, police were present at the site. Authorities have also issued a series of guidelines that all participants are asked to follow.

One of the most important rules concerns camping: wild camping, particularly along the roads, is strictly prohibited. If necessary, police will direct individuals to official campsites. Camping by the roadside not only violates regulations but also poses a serious safety risk. In addition, barbecuing in natural areas is forbidden.

Police are also reminding pilgrims to respect the environment and dispose of waste properly. Any parking restrictions and road closures must be strictly observed.

To ease congestion and reduce environmental impact, visitors are strongly encouraged to use public transport or Park and Ride options in combination with shuttle services. Overnight stays should take place only at designated campsites, and any instructions given by officers on site must be followed.

Police will be on duty throughout both Wednesday and Thursday to monitor the situation.
