A single-family home on Route de Longwy in Merl was engulfed by flames on the evening of Saturday, 3 May 2025. Authorities have since launched an arson investigation, with one suspect arrested and brought before an examining magistrate.
In a statement released Monday, Luxembourg police confirmed that “initial investigations have revealed this was a case of arson”. The suspect was apprehended Sunday evening under orders of the public prosecutor’s office and presented to a magistrate the following morning.
