Customs authorities in Luxembourg intercepted a significant drug shipment during a routine lorry inspection using mobile X-ray scanning technology.
The discovery occurred when officers examining an international freight vehicle noticed anomalous images while scanning numerous parcels and boxes. Upon physically inspecting the suspicious package, authorities uncovered a substantial quantity of marijuana.
To complete the search, customs deployed Balto, a trained narcotics detection dog. The canine identified an additional crate containing four kilogrammes of the substance, bringing the total seizure to 42kg.
Following standard procedures, officials prepared a detailed incident report and immediately notified the Luxembourg public prosecutor’s office, which subsequently issued a confiscation order for the seized drugs. Authorities continue investigating the shipment’s origins and intended destination.
The seizure follows another successful interception in March, when customs detected 12kg of marijuana using similar methods.
