In a press release, the Grand Duke's Property Administration has denied recent media reports regarding the Grand Ducal family's assets, which were valued at €3.7 billion.
This figure, recently published and widely circulated online, placed the Luxembourg Grand Ducal family at the top of the wealthiest courts in Europe.
In response to these announcements, and contrary to the Grand Ducal family's habit of refraining from commenting on matters relating to its private assets, the Grand Duke's Property Administration wished to provide some clarification.
The press release states that "the net worth of the Grand Ducal family's assets represents only a small fraction of the $4 billion cited in the press". These estimates appear to conflate private family assets with historical and cultural heritage of which they are not the owners.
The Administration also stresses that the Grand Ducal family has the right to financial confidentiality and will therefore not disclose detailed information on its private assets.
The Grand Ducal family has previously repeatedly denied reports concerning the extent of its assets.
