Students from the Mondorf-les-Bains maison relais and the local youth house joined forces to build a pavilion for public use, showing their engagement and the social value invested in the youth house.

In partnership with children from the municipal maison relais, carpenters, and a forester, a public-benefit pavilion was created, designed to be accessible to all. Planning commenced in 2023, and the completed pavilion now stands proudly next to the public barbecue area.

The JuKa-Gang, the group to which the kids belong, aims to bring youth together for sustainable development projects in Mondorf-les-Bains, according to group president Alex Bellusci.

The maison relais educators and the municipal youth house supervised the project, but the JuKa-Gang took part in the whole process, ranging from the ideational phase to the official documentation and, finally, the construction phase of the pavilion. The group was also able to learn about forestry and carpentry from the professionals themselves.

Importantly, these projects give the students from the maison relais the chance to discover the municipal youth house, as can be witnessed by Neira's joy, one of the students involved in the project.

Cindy Hayum of the maison relais explains in further detail that the youth house is an ideal place for children to spend time with their friends, to play, and to do their homework, becoming a potential meeting place for the kids as they move from primary school to secondary school.

Although now finished, the pavilion is located in a green zone, which required an official request to be sent to the Ministry of the Environment. As time seemed to drag on with the answer from the Ministry, a decision was made by the group to build a mini-version of the pavilion in order to keep their enthusiasm alive. Indeed, their excitement only grew as they waited expectantly for the final product, as described by vice-president of the JuKa-Gang Aiza Seyd Al Amfaraz.

Annie Loscheter of the youth house explained that the project aims to show how youth, as pillars of society, contribute to social life. These projects also help to depict youth in a positive way, she stated.

Indeed, the project made waves, as the inauguration of the pavilion was performed in the presence of Minister of the Economy, of Energy, and Tourism Lex Delles and Mondorf-les-Bains mayor Steve Reckel, with the evening ending pleasantly as the students reaped the benefits of their work.
