On Friday night, police intervened in a gathering of 200 to 300 tuned cars in Pétange, where they were met with hostility, including fireworks being thrown at officers.

Around 11pm, authorities were called to Rue Bellevue, where vehicles – mainly with Belgian and French plates – had assembled. Officers aimed to carry out checks and address the late-night noise disturbance. In total, 50 officers were involved in the operation, according to the police report.

Upon arrival, one of the first patrols was targeted with fireworks. The suspected perpetrator was later identified, arrested on the prosecutor’s orders, and found to have more pyrotechnics in his vehicle, which were seized. He is set to appear before an investigating judge on Saturday afternoon.

As part of the vehicle inspections, two provisional driving bans were issued, two cars were seized, and around 30 reports were filed that night.
