This Sunday, the 57th edition of the Diekirch Cavalcade will bring thousands of carnival-goers to the streets, with an estimated 34,000 attendees expected. The event is organised by "Eselen aus der Sauerstad Dikrich A.S.B.L."

So far, the weather looks promising, which could boost turnout. Afternoon temperatures are forecasted to reach around 10°C, with sunshine even making an appearance.

The course of events

The parade will start on Sunday at 2.30pm.

The route goes from Route de la Larochette via Rue Alexis Heck, the Esplanade, Place Guillaume, Rue de Stavelot, and ends at Avenue de la Gare.

Before, during, and after the parade, festivities will take place all over Diekirch, with various DJs providing entertainment.

From 12pm to 7pm, "Op der Kluuster" with DJ Paul.

From 12pm to 6pm , the "Family Place" at Wirtgenschlass will offer activities for children, music, and a designated alcohol-free zone.

During the same hours, DJ Dee will provide musical entertainment at the town hall.

From 4pm to 8pm, DJ Hofmeister will perform at Liberation Square.

At the "Aler Seeërei", DJ Majj will warm up the crowd from 3.30pm to 6.30pm, followed by DJs Al and Blueteck, who will keep the party going until midnight.

Traffic and parking

Access to Diekirch will be extremely restricted from Sunday at 12pm onwards. Visitors are encouraged to use the various park-and-ride (P&R) options to reach Diekirch stress-free by bus.

P&R locations include Parking Däich in Ettelbruck, Heintz van Landewyck and the opposite side in the ZANO industrial zone. And for those coming from other directions, parking is available at Bloen Eck in Stegen, as well as Sauerwiss and the agricultural school (Akerbauschoul).

Traveling to Diekirch by train is also an option. Travelers can check schedules on www.cfl.lu or www.mobiliteit.lu. However, note that no trains will be running to Diekirch from the north over the weekend.
