A masked man armed with a knife robbed a restaurant in Oberkorn on Monday night, threatening staff and escaping with cash from the register.
According to the Luxembourg police, an armed robbery occurred at a restaurant in Oberkorn at around 9.30pm on Monday evening.
The police report states that the masked perpetrator, who was armed with a knife, demanded the cash from the register before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported, but authorities have launched an investigation. The suspect is described as wearing a balaclava, dark clothing, and carrying a large kitchen knife.
Upon further enquiry at the restaurant, employees provided additional details. They confirmed that the individual was wearing a balaclava and spoke French. While the staff were threatened with a knife, one waitress believes she also saw what appeared to be a firearm. At the time of the incident, the restaurant owner was in the kitchen, and there were no customers present during the hold-up.
The robbery lasted only a few minutes, during which the perpetrator managed to escape with several hundred euros. A formal complaint has since been filed with the police.
