For the second time in 24 hours, suspects in Luxembourg have unsuccessfully attempted to blow up an ATM, with the latest incident occurring in the village of Saeul.
The Luxembourg police have reported another attempted ATM explosion, this time in Saeul. Authorities have issued a call for witnesses following the incident, which marks the second failed attempt in just 24 hours.
The latest incident occurred at around 3.20am on Thursday, when suspects attempted to blow up an ATM on Rue de Mersch in Saeul. The attempt was unsuccessful, and no suspects were apprehended at the scene.
This is not the first time the western region of Luxembourg, close to the Belgian border, has been targeted by ATM robbers. Just one day earlier, on Wednesday morning, a similar attempt was made in Oberpallen, located a few kilometres from Saeul. That incident also took place around 3am, but the culprits fled without success.
Following the Saeul incident, multiple police units were despatched to assess the damage. An investigation has been launched, and authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward. Witnesses or individuals with relevant details are encouraged to contact the Criminal Investigation Department directly via email at spj.rgb@police.etat.lu.
This series of attempted robberies follows an ATM explosion in Reisdorf six days ago. In that incident, the force of the blast propelled the metal casing of the ATM into the wall of the station. Despite the destruction, the perpetrators escaped unharmed, according to a Spuerkeess spokesperson who spoke to RTL earlier this week.
