In a press release sent around 6.40pm, emergency services declared the Goodyear factory fire to be extinguished.

The Automobile Club of Luxembourg (ACL) had issued a warning on Monday, urging motorists to steer clear of Avenue Gordon Smith due to the ongoing blaze.

Reports indicated a significant release of smoke from the site.

According to information from Mayor Mandy Arendt, a fire had spread to another building. One fire was extinguished first, while the other took longer to be controlled.

The authorities of the municipality of Colmar-Berg issued a call for people in the vicinity of the tyre producer to close their windows for safety reasons. There were reports of steam and a foul smell. The local school was also alerted, and the children were not sent out to recess, according to municipal officials.

As reported by our journalist on-site, around 11 people have been hospitalised with suspected smoke inhalation. A total of 23 people were directly affected.
