In response to the rising workload and fuller agenda, the Chamber of Deputies will begin holding plenary sessions in the morning, and not exclusively at noon.
President of the Chamber, Claude Wiseler, highlighted the increasing challenges faced by the Chamber, noting that the volume and complexity of legislative texts have grown significantly in recent years, requiring more time and careful deliberation.
Wiseler further explained that the Chamber has restructured its schedule to include weeks focused solely on committee meetings and others dedicated exclusively to plenary sessions.
The new plenary session schedule will allow for better organisation, more efficient work, and greater flexibility.
Wiseler also emphasised the importance of involving younger generations in parliamentary work.
Another initiative is the live broadcast of select parliamentary committee meetings, a move announced by Secretary General Laurent Scheeck during Monday's New Year's reception at the Krautmaart.
In addition to the live broadcasts of committee meetings, which began as a pilot project this year, the Chamber plans to evaluate the initiative in the coming weeks to assess its effectiveness.
