A yellow weather alert is in place for Tuesday until 4pm in southern Luxembourg, as Meteolux predicts rainfall could lead to flooding.

The weather alert comes a day after Luxembourg was on an orange alert for flooding by the Water Management Authority, which has since been lifted.

However, the weather agency maintained a yellow alert for the south of the country until 4pm on Tuesday.

The Water Management Authority issued a yellow alert for the Moselle river, writing that "water levels in the rivers of southern Luxembourg reached their peak in the morning. A renewed rise of the water levels on Wednesday and Thursday cannot be excluded."

The water level was measured at 520cm in Stadtbredimus on Tuesday morning, which is below the warning level of 530cm, however this may rise again in the upcoming days.

On Monday, a yellow weather alert was issued for strong winds, with gusts peaking over 90km/h. On Tuesday, peaks of 55km/h are expected.

As temperatures drop, Tuesday and Wednesday could see light snowfall across the Grand Duchy.
